This study examines the transformations of female human capital in Syria during the period 2000–2024, focusing on women’s participation in the economy before and after 2011. It is based on the hypothesis that the conflict has profoundly affected economic indicators related to women, such as education, formal employment, and the gender gap.
The research employs a descriptive, analytical, and comparative methodology, using a multiple linear regression model to analyze the relationship between three independent variables—average years of education, the rate of formal employment, and the gender gap index—and their impact on women’s participation in the labor market, drawing on data from international sources.
The findings indicate that the gender gap was the most influential factor, while the relationship between education and economic participation showed an inverse trend. The rate of formal employment was found to have no statistically significant effect. The study recommends aligning education with labor market needs, enhancing gender policies, and improving the quality of formal employment to ensure effective economic empowerment of women.
