The current research aimed to identify the level of awareness among postgraduate students at Lattakia University regarding academic integrity standards in scientific research, including: (Plagiarism, Academic Cheating, Fabrication and Falsification of Data, Obtaining an Undeserved Advantage, Assisting and Inciting Academic Dishonesty, Unauthorized Access to Official Documents, and Infringement of Individual Intellectual Property Rights). It also sought to reveal the nature of statistical differences in these awareness levels according to the academic stage variable (Master's, Doctorate). To achieve these objectives, the research adopted a descriptive-analytical approach. The research population consisted of (3,969) students, and by applying the statistical sampling law, a stratified random sample was drawn using the proportional allocation method, with a target size of (350) individuals; (327) valid questionnaires were retrieved for statistical analysis.
The research concluded that the general level of awareness regarding academic integrity standards among the sample was "moderate." The "Academic Cheating" standard ranked first with a high level of awareness, while the "Unauthorized Access to Documents" standard recorded the lowest levels. Furthermore, the results revealed statistically significant differences in the level of awareness attributable to the academic stage variable in favor of doctoral students, reflecting the role of research experience in refining professional values. The analysis showed a qualitative weakness in the perception of intellectual property rights for digital content and the distinction between facts and public information. These findings emphasize the necessity of transitioning from theoretical awareness to procedural practice, particularly for Master's students in their early stages, while highlighting the importance of keeping pace with modern technical challenges to ensure the quality and credibility of scientific outputs.
