Abstract

The study aimed to determine the degree of Mindfulness practice among Faculty Members at Tartous University across its dimensions (Mindful Differentiation, Novelty Generation, Present Orientation, and Awareness of Multiple Perspectives) and its relation to their level of Occupational Stress. The research adopted the descriptive method. The study population included all 595 faculty members at Tartous University for the academic year 2024-2025. The sample was a stratified random sample of 239 faculty members, of which 221 complete and valid questionnaires (Mindfulness and Occupational Stress scales, developed by the researcher) were retrieved for statistical analysis.

The results revealed that the faculty members' degree of Mindfulness practice was high, with the dimensions of Awareness of Multiple Perspectives and Present Orientation receiving the highest scores, reflecting strong cognitive flexibility. Conversely, the level of Occupational Stress was moderate, indicating that academic demands are under control. The primary sources of stress were identified as quantitative work demands and time pressure, rather than organizational or interpersonal issues. Furthermore, the findings demonstrated a strong, statistically significant inverse relationship between the two variables, confirming that increased mindfulness practice significantly contributes to lowering the level of occupational stress experienced by the faculty members.
