Abstract

The research aimed to identify the level of knowledge of students in the Faculty of Education at Tartous University regarding the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in education, their expectations regarding the role AI may play in the future, and to examine whether there are statistically significant differences between their mean scores based on the variables (gender, specialization, and academic year).

The research adopted a descriptive approach. The research community included all students in the Faculty of Education at Tartous University for the academic year 2023-2024, totaling (1,533) male and female students, according to statistics issued by the Student Affairs Department at the Faculty of Education at Tartous University. The research sample consisted of (307) male and female students, after its size was determined based on the statistical sample law and distributed proportionally using the stratified random method.

The research results showed that the research sample members' level of knowledge of the concept of AI in general was average, while their level of knowledge of AI applications in education was average. Their level of knowledge of specific AI applications in education was weak. The results also showed no statistically significant differences between the average responses of sample members regarding their level of knowledge of artificial intelligence applications in education, based on the variable of academic year.
