Abstract

The research aimed to determine the reality of developmental scientific research in the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and the mechanisms of interconnection between the faculty as a scientific research entity and the agricultural sector within the framework of the national policy for science, technology and innovation. The research focused on the problem of evaluating the extent to which the scientific research accomplished in that faculty rises to the level of the strategic challenges facing the agricultural sector. The research adopted the case study approach of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering using the direct interview method with the senior management of the faculty. The research concluded that the contribution of scientific research in that faculty to the revival of the agricultural sector in the post-war period does not rise to the level that classifies it as scientific research development. The research suggested the necessity of all concerned research entities with developing the studied sector sitting at a round table to determine the responsibility of each body to implement the research priorities specified by the national policy, and to project them according to a matrix that clarifies the objectives, the time of completion, and commitment to them.
