Abstract

This study examines the narrative technique of focalization in two stories from Ghada Al-Samman’s the Square Moon: “Thirty Years of Bees” and “An Air-Conditioned Egg.” It explores how focalization reveals the narrator’s psychological structure and contributes to the artistic vision of the text. Using a descriptive-analytical method and drawing on Gérard Genette’s classification of focalization, the study offers a deep reading of both stories through a narrative lens that considers the interplay between subjectivity and objectivity, internal and external perspectives.
