تحليل جغرافي للمعايير المعتمدة في تحديد مواقع مكبات النفايات الصلبة في منطقة طرطوس

Abstract

Solid waste management is one of the problems facing administrative units in the environmental planning process in the Tartous region, due to the scarcity of financial resources and the unsuitable nature of the infrastructure in the region, there are many methods used to dispose of waste such as burning or burying but random landfills are the most common.

The research aims to assess the current state of solid waste in the Tartous region as well as to identify the geographical criteria influencing the selecting of landfill sites, in away that meets environmental and economic requirements, GIS were than used to produce maps for each criteria separately After assessing the current state of waste, research led to a study of its quantitative and qualitative composition the identification of two sites for establishing landfills and  the proposal of some solutions to address the waste problem in the region.
