This research aims to analyze the semiotics of passions in the short story collection "The Flash" by Haidar Haidar, revealing the manifestations of these passions, including those of sadness, isolation, revenge, love, and contempt. This is achieved by clarifying their meanings, tracing their development, and discovering the mechanisms and procedural tools of passion semiotics. The research also highlights the capacity of passions to reveal the emotions of the self in selected stories from the collection: "Hunting and Human Tales, A Burnt Summer, and Hamimoud." Finally, it presents a semantic framework for the emotional trajectory of the self in these stories.
The research concludes that there is a diversity of semantic elements in the stories of the collection, which confirms the variety of emotions and feelings aroused by external factors that directed the self's actions.
