Abstract

The research aimed to identify the level of aggressive behavior (physical aggression towards others, verbal aggression towards others, aggression towards the self, aggression towards property) among fourth-grade primary school students in Tartous city schools from the teachers' perspective, and to investigate whether there were differences between the means of their responses regarding the level of aggressive behavior according to the variables (teacher's gender, teacher's years of service, teacher's academic qualification). The research adopted the descriptive approach. The research population consisted of all fourth-grade teachers in the first cycle schools of basic education in Tartous city, numbering (75) male and female teachers, according to the statistics of the Planning and Statistics Department in the Tartous Directorate of Education for the academic year 2024-2025. Given the small size of the research population, the researcher adopted the comprehensive census method. A questionnaire was constructed, which in its final form consisted of (40) items, and then distributed to (60) male and female teachers after excluding (15) male and female teachers who were the exploratory sample members. (55) complete and valid questionnaires were retrieved for the purposes of statistical analysis.

The results showed:

1- Physical aggression towards others was generally considered weak, with an arithmetic mean of (2.22). The level of verbal aggression reached (2.81). The level of aggression towards the self was very weak, with an arithmetic mean of (1.80). The level of aggression towards property was weak, with an arithmetic mean of (2.14).

2- There were no statistically significant differences in the aggressive behavior evaluations among the teachers according to the variables (gender, years of experience, academic qualification).
