Abstract

The study of nouns in Hebrew is an important linguistic topic that enables a deep understanding of the characteristics of this ancient Semitic language and reveals fundamental and historical aspects that connect it to other Semitic languages, such as Arabic and Aramaic. As one of the fundamental pillars of any language, nouns carry grammatical, morphological, and religious connotations that arouse the interest of researchers in the field of comparative linguistics and Semitic studies.

Gender is one of the basic grammatical features of all languages. In Hebrew, it is divided into masculine (זָכָר) and feminine (נְקֵבָה). This division affects the formation of adjectives, pronouns, and verbs associated with nouns. Hebrew is similar to Arabic in this respect, but with some differences in application and formulation.
