Abstract

This study aims to unveil the life of luxury and affluence in al-Andalus through the eyes of its poet, Ibn Khafaja, who was a precise chronicler of the refined social lifestyle of his time. The importance of this research lies in its transition from studying poetry as a purely literary text to considering it as a historical document that reflects social and economic dimensions. The study employs the descriptive-analytical method to observe the manifestations of luxury and analyze their meanings. It embarks on a journey through various aspects of this opulence, beginning with clothing, passing through perfumes and the brilliance of ornaments and jewels, reaching the world of singing and music, the elegance of dwellings, and concluding with the wine gatherings that he skillfully described. The research concludes that Ibn Khafaja combined in his poetry both cultural prosperity and natural beauty in a unique image that expresses the spirit of Andalusian civilization at the height of its flourishing.
