This research examines the emergence of a new poetic form, born from the Arabic prose poem, known as the "daily prose poem" during the 1970s and 1980s. It investigates the historical, political, social, economic, psychological, and cultural factors that contributed to its formation. Furthermore, it reveals the multiplicity of labels associated with this term, which reflect the differing understandings of this new poetic form among modern Arab critics, leading to a severe terminological crisis.
The study concludes that this new poetic form spread across various parts of the Arab world within relatively close timeframes, a phenomenon attributed to the similarity of the objective and subjective conditions surrounding it. It also proposes a solution to the terminological crisis by adopting a unified designation that is the most accurate in expressing the essence of this trend. Consequently, the term "daily prose poem" was selected for its precision, comprehensiveness, and its ability to embody the characteristics of this new art form, unlike other terms.
Thus, the research highlights the importance of standardizing the term to ensure clarity in critical perspective, while endorsing the proposed designation that accurately reflects the core of this trend and safeguards it from conceptual fragmentation.
