visual image,Al-TutiliAbstract
The blind poet al-Tuṭilī possessed the ability to reshape sensory perceptions to express what was on his mind. Given the connection between the perception of the basic function of the poetic image and the profound relationship between it and human perceptions and emotions, the focus of this study is to address the most prominent imagery relationships in al-Tuṭilī's poetry. This is done by observing them in contrast, with the aim of identifying their characteristics and revealing the connotations they impart to the visual image in his poetry. The study relies on stylistic analysis tools that link the expressive function with the emotional function in the stylistic structure of literary discourse.
