This current research aimed to identify the level of depression among a sample of psychological counseling students at Tartous university, it also aimed to identify the differences in depression levels according to the variables (academic year, parents’ educational level, place of residence), The research sample included (249) students in psychological counseling, The research employed a descriptive approach, As for the research instruments, they were employed the second edition of the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), originally developed by Beck (1979) and translated by Ahmed Abdel Khalek (1996). The results of the research showed that (42.5%) of the sample exhibited moderate depression, (24.9%) severe depression, and (14.5%) mild depression, while the proportion of participants with no depressive symptoms was (18.1%), The results also showed that there are statistically significant differences between the study members in the level of depression due to variable (academic year) it was in favor of first-year students, while differences were found due to variable (place of residence) it was in favor of students residing in rural areas, while There were no statistically significant differences due to the variable (parents’ educational level).
