The aim of the following research was to identify the degree of inclusion of habits of mind in the science subject for the fifth grade of the first cycle of basic education. The descriptive-analytical approach was followed, and a content analysis card was used as an analysis tool, including the main habits of mind and their branches.
The sample books, which consisted of two science books for the fifth grade of basic education, were analyzed, one part for each semester, and were approved for the academic year 2024-2025.
The research reached the following results:
The habits of mind that should be included in science subject for the fifth grade are values and attitudes, calculation and estimation, contact and communication, manual control and observation, and critical response.
The percentages of habit inclusion were weak and unbalanced, with the highest percentage being for the habit of critical response (46.32%), followed by the habit of contact and communication (25.24%), then the habit of values and attitudes (16.43%), and fourth
the habit of manual control and observation (11.53%), and finally the habit of calculation and estimation (0.45%)
In light of the research results, a set of recommendations was formulated that could contribute to developing and improving study curriculum.
