Abstract

Monitoring and Following up on the birth rate, which is the most important indicator of Fertility in any society, helps in understanding and analyzing , the size and mass  of the place and the Factors that effect this rate and the changes occurring in the population Structures , which overlap and inter twine in three groups of economic, social cultural and political Factors. That are produced by the place with its geographical dimensions.

This research then presents the development  of the population of Tartous  Governorate and the birth rate, and extrapolates the direction of this rate in the Future in order to gain a deeper understanding of population development and what may result from it in terms of developing appropriate spatial plans and understanding the influencing factors   that determine population growth rates in governorate that  has high cultural and  economic level, and occupies a leading position at the national level .
