This research focuses on analyzing the role of the New Silk Road in enhancing political and security stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region through its potential impacts on local economies and cultural interactions. It also explores how the initiative could reshape the region by directing the collective awareness of its populations and governments toward development and economic benefit, positioning the New Silk Road as a geographic safety network.
Historically, the conflict among Eastern Mediterranean and Central Asian countries over the ancient Silk Road served as a counterforce to its economic and cultural functions. This rivalry resulted in evident sectarianism and fragmentation, driven by the desire for direct control over Silk Road routes. Consequently, the region experienced wars, instability, insecurity, and a decline in its civilizational role.
The study adopts a geographical analysis of the examined region, highlighting both natural and human geographic factors that could support the success and development of the New Silk Road's gains. It presents the economic role of the ancient Silk Road and its consequences in the region, along with how the New Silk Road might overcome these past drawbacks along its route.
The research concludes that the New Silk Road can serve as a bridge for peace and stability amid the geopolitical shifts accompanying its geographical expansion. It has the potential to enhance cooperation and mutual understanding among countries, laying the foundation for a safer and more prosperous investment environment in the Eastern Mediterranean and Central Asia
