Abstract

 The aim of the research is to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence and mental health among the elderly in Homs Governorate.

 The research community consisted of all the elderly residing in nursing homes in Homs Governorate. Emotional intelligence and the mental health scale, after verifying the psychometric properties of the two scales, were applied to the research sample, and the research reached the following:

 There is a statistically significant correlation at the significance level (0.05) between emotional intelligence and the mental health of the elderly.

 There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) between the elderly's scores on the emotional intelligence scale according to the gender variable (male, female) for the elderly.

There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) between the elderly's scores on the mental health scale according to the gender variable (male, female) for the elderly.
