Abstract

This research attempts to approach poetic interpretation from a philosophical and cognitive perspective, examining the development of interpretation throughout the ages and monitoring the critical data that have attempted to benefit from it. It also attempts to identify the most important problems that stand in the way of interpretation, such as the author's intent, the multiplicity of readers, the nature of the reader, and the diversity of references. It proposes a set of criteria that can contribute to reducing the randomness of interpretation, such as the reader's experiences, the internal harmony of the text, prior understanding, and the horizon of expectation, benefiting from the cognitive accumulation that has taken care of the mechanisms of poetic interpretation and the theory of reception. The research tested these criteria on a modern poetic text by the poet (Hassan Baiti), attempting to reach a critical vision that seeks to understand the aesthetics of modern poetry by activating interpretation and linking it to the surface and deep structures of the poetic text.
