The importance of the research lies in the importance of the citrus crop and its wide geographical spread in Tartous Governorate. The objectives of the research are to study the reality of citrus cultivation in the governorate, its problems and ways to promote its cultivation by analysing the changes in cultivation during the period from 2004 to 2024, in terms of production, area and number of trees.

The results showed a slight decline in the compound annual growth rate of production by -1% per year, with a slight fluctuation in production and a sharp decline in one season. The correlation coefficient between irrigated area and citrus cultivation area showed a strong and positive correlation of 0.97, confirming the importance of irrigation in increasing the cultivated area. The study predicts a continuous increase in the area planted with citrus fruits and production in the coming years, with the possibility of a decrease in production in some seasons due to unforeseen climatic factors.

Suggestions include conducting detailed studies to analyse the economic, political and social factors affecting citrus production. In addition to strengthening government policies to support farmers by providing soft loans, training on modern technologies, and improving infrastructure.
