Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the degree of psychological alienation among students of the Faculty of Economics and to identify the differences between the mean scores of the research sample individuals on the psychological alienation scale according to the variables (gender, academic year). The research sample consisted of (259) male and female students from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tartous. The research relied on the descriptive method, and the psychological alienation scale prepared by (Ward, 2022) was used. The results of the research showed that the degree of psychological alienation is moderate among students of the Faculty of Economics. There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the research sample individuals on the psychological alienation scale according to the gender variable, in favor of males. There were also statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the research sample individuals on the psychological alienation scale according to the academic year variable, in favor of first-year students. No statistically significant differences were found between the mean scores of the research sample individuals on the psychological alienation scale, nor in each of its dimensions, according to the academic year variable.
