Abstract

 

  Asthma is one of the common chronic respiratory diseases among children worldwide leading to a decline quality of life. The Buteyko exercises are among the respiratory therapy techniques that rely on specific methods to improve breathing and alleviate associated symptoms.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Buteyko breathing technique on asthmatic children quality of life in Latakia city.

Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental design was employed on a convenience sample of 50 children with asthma from the children's and obstetrics hospital in Latakia.. Data were collected using an interview form, adapted from a tool titled "Quality of Life Scale in Children with Asthma".

Results: the results revealed significant statistical differences in the quality of life in favor of experimental group in the post-intervention phase of breathing exercises.

 Recommendations: Incorporating Buteyko breathing techniques into treatment programs for children with asthma as a part of comprehensive therapeutic protocols that helps improve lung function and relieve disease related symptoms.
